Wow, I made it here!  I was well prepared mentally from what Bob and Donna has told me so nothing was shocking, just very entertaining!  I love it here!  Well, I haven't experienced much yet.  Just the airport and the taxi ride here.  The people are very friendly so far.  Of course they see a white woman that is obviously clueless so they also see dollar signs.
It is a fascinating, chaotic, loud, filthy, crowded, poverty stricken (compared to US standards), but beautiful place all at the same time.  I can't believe I am actually here!
I am having difficulty finding out how to get my pictures from the iPad onto the blog!  Seems I am missing a menu option in my add images menu.  Dang!  I'll put some on Facebook or email soon.

No, I'm not in Nepal yet.  Now I have found my first cup of coffee and reading God's word, asking Him what I need to know today.  Discernment and Understanding was where He led me.  Proverbs and Ecclesiastes.  Prov. 9:4. Wisdom says, "Whoever is naive, let him (her) turn in here!".  Later in v.   10 it says "The fear of The Lord is the beginning of wisdom."  (Fear=reverence, respect, not being afraid.)  Lord, I turn to You- the One who knows all things- give me the wisdom to be discerning, not judgemental; to love, not fear;  to embrace the place and the people with compassion and grace, not pity.  Let them teach me new things about who You are.  With my hand in yours, lead me on.
Two legs of the trip down and one to go.  I spent the night in Seoul and was able to get good rest.  Since the layover was 12 + hours, Bob booked me a hotel right in the airport.  I didn't have to sleep on the bench or floor!  What a wonderful husband.
Now I am going in search for coffee!  I watched a great movie on the flight.  The Life of Pi.  It will be one of my all time favorites.
Next post will hopefully be from Kathmandu.

Experiencing a little pre-flight anxiety here in my hotel room in Anchorage!  I'm having difficulty settling down to sleep.  Now I know how Bob feels every time he flies!  But, I'll just put one foot in front of the other till I'm on that plane and off to worlds unknown- well, to me anyway.  :)

God led me to this Psalm today:  May God be gracious to us and  bless us and make His face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.  Psalm 67:1-2
If you would like to pray for us and are not sure what to pray, this would be a good one!
"If you reject the food, ignore the people, fear the religion, and avoid the people, you might as well stay home" - James A. Michener
Eddie Bauer's first ascent guide Jake Norton says "I have only one rule, one guiding principle to lead me:  Embrace it.  Dive into the place full bore."

YES.  That is the plan!

In the beginning...

The Adventure is about to begin!  Tomorrow I leave Cantwell and begin a 6 week journey to the other side of the world and back!  Bob will meet me a week later in Kathmandu.  We will see how I do at blogging!  I will miss this place, and especially the 14 dogs we will be leaving behind, but they will be in the best of hands with Lance and Dana, Amelia and Reid.  I believe God has some wonderful plans for us and it will be fun to see how it all unfolds!
